Pakur (Jharkhand), Dec 1 (PTI) The Congress today backed its leaders Stephen Marandi and Furkan Ansari for supporting the Raj Mahal Pahar Bachao Samiti in its agitation demanding "implementation" of an agreement it signed with the Panem Coal Mining Limited at Pachuwara, about 70 km from here. Giving a clean chit to the two leaders, AICC Secretary Asha Kumari told reporters at the dharna venue that the party was behind Stephen Marandi and Ansari in their support to the Samiti. Kumari, who is also the party's co-incharge of Jharkhand affairs, came from Delhi to take stock of the ground situation in the wake of JPCC President Pradeep Kumar Balmachu setting up a five-member committee to look into Stephen and Ansari "joining hands" with Jhakrhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) President Babulal Marandi in the agitation against the company. "The Congress has always been with the problems of displaced people," Kumari said in the presence of the members of the committee set up by Balmachu---who was also present. Babulal Marandi has already said that it was not his party's agitation but supporting to the villagers' demands under their banner of Raj Mahal Bachao Samiti. The Samiti had an agreement with the Panem in 2006 and alleged that most of the issues agreed upon were not yet implemented. They agitation entered the 16th day today. PTI CORR PVR RG
