Madurai, Jan 5 (PTI): A writ petition has been filed in Madras High Court bench here,seeking a stay on the corporation whitewashing DMK wall advertisements, highlighting proposed welfare schemes to be brought out on the occassion of party leader and Union Minister M K Alagiri's birthday on Jan 30. Petitioner Nandagopan, DMK Lawyer's wing organiser, contended that party cadres planned to distribute welfare aid for the poor and alternately abled on that day. The progammes had to be advertised through wall writings so that it could reach more people. He pointed out that similar wall writings were put out by AIADMK cadres in connection with Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's birthday. However officials were whitewashing only DMK ads, which was a 'biased action', he said and sought the stay. PTI SSN APR APR
